SWIL simulator

SoftWare In the Loop simulation (SWIL) is the first test any SICANT modification has to pass before being accepted as valid in the final airborne software version. In this kind of simulation, tests are focused both in checking that the modification works as intended, and also that the interaction of said modification with other parts of flight control system and ground control, do not produce unintended behaviours.

There are typically two computers involved in SWIL tests: flight control with its aircraft model computer, and ground control computer. In the flight control computer, an atmospheric model is also running in a separate process.

Summarizing, this kind of simulation includes interface modules for System Simulator and Control System, but they are also modified in order for them to use only logic connections and operations (not hardware), in read and write commands inside the very same application.
