HWIL simulator

SimuladorHWIL_EN

Once SWIL simulation has been successful, SICANT modification has to be tested in HWIL simulation. HWIL simulation (HardWare In the Loop) includes a hardware subsystem that emulates aircraft sensors and actuators: IMSS module.

This module is physically connected (through real wires) to MEC in the same way MEC would be connected to the real aircraft. MEC runs the modified flight control code, and connects itself, also physically, to MTT. MTT manages communications with ground station in the same way it would do it in a real flight. This extra level of complexity in simulation, ensures a greater fidelity and reliability in SICANTs modifications tests, since it includes real effects such as delays in signal transmission and other details that SWIL can not fully check.

Once a correct SICANT behaviour has been assured, flight simulator is used to check the aircraft real mission in the flight campaign.
