One of the Flight Mechanics Area expertise is the development of applications for ground control stations. A ground station is the place where the remote pilot carries out the ground tasks during flight or tests. It's typically a mobile platform, composed of communication systems, global positioning by satellite, and computer management equipments.
On the latter is where ground control station applications run. These applications are the interfaces between remote pilot and aircraft, and allow pre-flight operations, direct control and guidance among other operative functions.
To the left, grond station application for remote pilot. To the right, commander application. Different kinds of missions require different types of tools.
Flight Mechanics Area has developed control stations for SIVA, ALO and Milano RPAS's
