C212 S/N 270

C212 270 en vuelo

The C212-200 can be defined as a high wing, turboprop, very versatile STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) aircraft, capable of taking off and landing in unprepared runways and operate in not- or low-equipped airfields. Its service ceiling is 25,000 ft / 7620 m MSL. Considering its cabin is not pressurized, a mandatory oxygen supply is available to operate at altitude above 10,000 ft / 3000 m. A rear door/loading ramp at the back of its main cabin allows direct and easy access for people and instrumentation. High-wing design eases safe maneuvering around the aircraft during ground operations. Four rails along the body and inside the cabin, two of them in its floor and two in both sides, provide a safe and quick mean to fix racks and equipment to the frame of the airplane.

The C212 s/n 270 aircraft is dedicated to remote sensing campaigns, with leading edge and high-performance imaging sensors on-board, in particular an airborne hyperspectral line-scanner AHS and a push-broom spectrometer CASI-1500i. Both of them can be operated simultaneously during the flight, gathering optical scenes in a tandem set-up. The imagery acquired in such a way, is typically processed and analysed by INTA teams. The AHS is an imaging 80-band whiskbroom radiometer, built by Sensytech Inc (currently Argon ST, and formerly Daedalus Inc.) under INTA spec’s in 2003. It is based on previous airborne hyperspectral scanners such as MIVIS (Multispectral Infrared and Visible Imaging Spectrometer) sensor and MAS (MODIS Airborne Simulator) prototype. AHS has been integrated with a GPS/INS POS-AV 410 module provided by Trimble-Applanix that provides accurate positioning and orientation to geolocate the centre of each pixel of the scene by the so called, direct technique. The spectrometer CASI-1500i acquires high resolution images, with a field of view of 40°.
