Aerial Platforms for Research (PAI)

Aeronave C212

National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) has a large research facility called "Aerial Platforms for Research" (PAI).

INTA Aerial Platforms for Research are a national large-scale scientific and technical facility at the service of the scientific and research community, whose main component is a fleet of aircraft equipped with the necessary instrumentation to carry out airborne experiments.

The main objective of PAI is to provide access to all those users that need an aerial platform to carry out their studies in fields as diverse as:

  • Aeronautical science
  • Atmospheric research
  • Earth observation
  • Research and development of new airborne devices
  • Test that need to be carried out in real flight conditions

Since November 2009, INTA-PAI belong to the Spanish network of Unique Scientific and Technical Infrastructures (ICTS) of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (MINECO).

INTA-ICTS-PAI invites scientific or technological partners, whether from public or private sectors, national or international scope, that need for their projects the use of instrumented aircraft.

PAI is in position to be used as a base for any type of airborne scientific and technological experience, always compatible with the selected aircraft. Aircraft have a high degree of adaptability for sensors, equipment and projects.

ICTS-PAI has its base of operations located in the CIAR (Lugo), although the instrumented aircraft can carry out the test campaigns from remote bases, with the operational limitations of the aircraft itself.
